About Ian Swanborough

Ian is an experienced Rural Financial Counsellor based on Brisbane northside. He supports primary producers across the Wide Bay Burnett, South East Queensland and Darling Downs regions in the following locations:

Ian brings a wealth of financial and agricultural industry experience, having grown up on a mixed farming property in the New South Wales ‘Golden Triangle’, then joining NAB to work in commercial and agribusiness roles in both rural and metro areas of New South Wales and Queensland.

More recently, Ian has been working as a Rural Financial Counsellor in the Macksville area of Northern New South Wales and has relocated to Queensland to join our Southern Queensland team.

Ian holds a Diploma of Financial Counselling (Rural Specialisation) and believes strong working partnerships with clients are built on trust, honesty and straight-up conversations. He takes the time to listen, understand each business and work alongside clients to find practical solutions.

Ian works alongside a team of Financial Counsellors located throughout Southern Queensland and his activities are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) following the Tropical Cyclone Alfred and Associated Severe Weather events (1 March -16 March 2025).
